In this step-by-step tutorial, you’ll make a cute little carrot toy using foam sheets and a clothes hanger. It’s a simple DIY craft that anyone can try at home. Plus, this activity will help develop creativity and fine motor skills.
Materials Needed:
- White, orange, and green foam sheets
- Wooden clothes hanger
- Markers
- Glue (hot or cold)
- Pencil
- Scissors
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- First, take the foam sheets and draw a small bunny on the white sheet, making sure it’s much smaller than the carrot. On the orange sheet, draw the body of the carrot, ensuring that it matches the width of the clothes hanger’s spring, starting from that point. Next, on the green sheet, draw the carrot leaves. Then, proceed to carefully cut out all the shapes. Then, carefully cut out all the shapes using scissors.
- Next, use markers to outline the edges of the shapes. On the orange foam sheet, add some lines to make it look more like a carrot. You can also draw and color the bunny’s face as much as you like.
- Now, cut the carrot foam shape in half.
- Take the clothes hanger and apply a small amount of glue (either hot or cold) to the top and bottom moving parts of the hanger. Attach the top half of the carrot to the upper part of the hanger and the bottom half to the lower part.
- Flip the hanger over and glue the carrot leaves to the back of the carrot (at the top). Finally, glue the bunny to the back of the hanger at the bottom. Remove any excess glue and let it dry.
