- Watercolor paper
- Scissors
- Acrylic paint or markers
- Black marker
- Sheets of foil paper
- Glue
- Create the Key Layout: Draw six squares, each 3×3 cm. Surround these squares with four additional squares of the same size—one above, one below, and one on each side. Add four flaps to the side squares.
- Build the Keyboard Frame: Draw a rectangle measuring 3 cm high by 5 cm wide. On each side of this rectangle, draw a 3 cm square with two flaps. Above and below this rectangle, draw two additional rectangles, each 3 cm high.
- Add Sanrio Characters: Sketch the faces of your favorite Sanrio characters. Cut out these shapes and color them.
- Create Accordion Buttons: Cut strips of foil paper. Glue one end of each strip to the end of another, then fold them alternately to form an accordion. Make seven of these accordion strips.
- Assemble the Keyboard: Glue the accordion strips to the buttons you created earlier. If the accordion strips are too long, trim them to fit.
- Finalize the Design: Draw a 12×12 cm square. Attach an additional 3 cm rectangle to one side, then add two rectangles of the same size on either side of this new rectangle to frame the keyboard. Below this, draw another 12×12 cm square with an extra rectangle and some flaps on both squares.
- Finish the Craft: On the first square you made, draw six 3.3×3.3 cm squares with a 5 mm gap between them. Draw a 5.3×3.3 cm rectangle below these squares. Cut out all the pieces, fold along the guide lines, and glue the flaps.
- Attach the Buttons: Glue the accordion buttons onto the keyboard frame. Adjust the length of the accordion strips if necessary.
And you’re done! Enjoy your adorable DIY Sanrio mini keyboard!
