Materials Needed:
- Polymer clay in white, red, pink, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange
- Cutter
- Circular cutter
- Toothpick
- Pliers
- Fimo varnish
- Eye pins
- Jewelry hooks
Instructions:
- Prepare the Clay: Roll out each color of polymer clay individually and use the circular cutter to cut out circles from each color.
- Assemble the Cake Layers: Roll out white clay and cut out 8 circles. Begin with a white circle, then add a red circle, followed by another white circle. Continue alternating the colors in this pattern until you reach the final color, finishing with a white circle.
- Shape the Cake: Roll out some white clay and cut it into a rectangle that matches the width and length of your stacked circles. Wrap this rectangle around the sides of the stacked circles to form the cake.
- Cut and Prepare the Cake Slices: Slice the cake into four pieces, then cut each triangle in half. Insert a gold or silver eye pin into the covered part of each triangle.
- Add Texture: Use a toothpick or pointed tool to gently scratch the colorful parts of the cake to simulate a fluffy texture.
- Create the Rainbow Swirl: Roll out strips of clay in each color, placing white in the center and surrounding it with the other colors in rainbow order. Roll this into a thin, spiral “churro” shape.
- Decorate the Slices: Wrap the rainbow strip around the base of each cake triangle, where the fondant ends. Form a small ball from the remaining rainbow clay strip and place one on top of each cake slice.
- Attach Earring Hooks: Using pliers, attach jewelry hooks to the eye pins inserted in the cake slices.
